The rule
A pivot survives when the new company narrative makes the new product look like proof, not like a swerve.
The copy, then and now
Advancing the frontier of AI systems with memory
Letta is an AI research lab in San Francisco building machines that learn. We envision a future where humans coexist with digital people: experiential agents that remember everything, learn continuously, and improve themselves over time.
There is no headline. The hero is now a single paragraph, and the product sits behind a nav item called Letta Agent.
Why it matters
Cold Open 011 drew its rule from this exact company: a pivot survives when the new story makes the new product look like proof rather than a swerve. Two years on, the same company is the counterexample to its own case. The lab framing makes the product look like a side effect of the research, and a buyer who lands here cannot tell what they would install, or why today. One honest caveat. The older line was already weak. Advancing the frontier is a phrase, not a claim. So the reading is not that they fell from a height. It is that they never had a headline and have stopped pretending otherwise.
Sources
Every case runs an adversarial fact check before it ships. Anything that cannot be verified against a primary source is cut, not caveated.
