Companies that changed their own positioning copy. Both versions quoted word for word, both dated, both checked against the page they came from.

I do not write the second version. Every line on this page was shipped by the company itself. A library of my rewrites would be an argument dressed up as a record, and nobody can prove my version would have converted better. What can be proven is that a company changed its mind, on a date, in public. So the two columns below are set at equal weight, on purpose. Sometimes the older line was the better one.

The move: Capability to outcome, plus a named buyer and a named alternative.
The rule: The Swap TestLaw 3. Describe the thing, then name it
Why it matters: Put LM Studio, Jan or llamafile on the 2024 line and it still reads true, which means it was never a headline. It was a description of the category. The new line does not survive that swap, because get more usage only means something if you are currently paying someone by the token. They also named who it is for, which is people running coding agents, and what it saves, which is money. Both of those choices turn somebody away, and that is what makes them positioning.

The rule: Law 2. One picture, not fiveCold Open 010
Why it matters: The 2024 page hands you a toolkit and asks you to imagine what you would build with it, which is five pictures and therefore none. The 2026 page hands you one. It also claims the noun already sitting in the engineering budget. Code review is a line item somebody already pays for. AI expert on your codebase is not.

The move: Repositioning upward, from a thing a developer downloads to infrastructure an organization buys.
The rule: Cold Open 013Law 5. Clear is not the same as generic
Why it matters: Moving up changes who you sell to. It does not change who finds you. The proof is sitting on the page: the main button asks for early access to the factory, and right beside it, still there, is download warp terminal. The old promise is what fills the funnel and they know it. The open question is the phrase cloud software factories, which is a term the buyer has to be taught, and teaching one takes about three years. Worth checking again in 2027.

Why it matters: The 2024 headline opens with a number, which is the whole job of a first sentence. The 2026 headline opens with none, and then rotates through three different endings, which is three pictures where the job called for one. It reads like a company that got big enough to stop selling and start narrating. Sometimes that is the right trade. The test is whether the sales team was hired two quarters before the headline shipped. If it was, this is a receipt. If not, it is a wish.

The rule: The Swap TestLaw 5. Clear is not the same as generic
Why it matters: Put Bland, Retell, Synthflow or ElevenLabs on speak human to every customer. It still reads true for every one of them. The line fails the Swap Test outright. The 2024 line did not, and the reason is the part worth teaching: for developers actively turned away the no-code buyer, and a headline that turns someone away is doing work. This is the most common move in the whole record, and it has a shape. A company grows, decides it wants everyone, and buys reach by spending specificity. The reach is real. The bill arrives later, when nobody can say what you are.

The rule: Law 3. Describe the thing, then name itCold Open 018
Why it matters: They stopped describing and went straight to naming, and the name they picked is one anybody can use. Every AI company on earth can claim an industrial revolution. Nobody else could have said Droids. The rule from Cold Open 018 is to own the one word your competitors cannot put in their own headline. Factory had that word and removed it.

There is no headline. The hero is now a single paragraph, and the product sits behind a nav item called Letta Agent.

The move: They deleted the headline and reframed from product company to research lab.
The rule: Law 2. One picture, not fiveCold Open 011
Why it matters: Cold Open 011 drew its rule from this exact company: a pivot survives when the new story makes the new product look like proof rather than a swerve. Two years on, the same company is the counterexample to its own case. The lab framing makes the product look like a side effect of the research, and a buyer who lands here cannot tell what they would install, or why today. One honest caveat. The older line was already weak. Advancing the frontier is a phrase, not a claim. So the reading is not that they fell from a height. It is that they never had a headline and have stopped pretending otherwise.
